What would you do if you had faith in yourself?
I know a lot of talented, successful and inspirational women.
They all have something in common. They downplay their achievements, successes and expertise.
When I compliment them, they say "oh it was nothing". When I ask whether they would like to be interviewed about their area of expertise, they say "wouldn't you rather ask so-and-so, they are the real expert".
And the women who are out there, promoting their businesses and sharing their knowledge are behind the scenes, plagued by Imposter Syndrome. Something I also suffer from greatly.
What strikes me is that, by being so modest, the world is missing out on their unique gifts, expertise and the potential impact they could have.
This makes me so frustrated and sad.
I wish I could help them see how brilliant they are. And I try to help them see how great they are by encouraging them, supporting them and championing everything they do.
And then, I had an epiphany this morning. Whilst doing the washing up, of all things. And listening to Janet Murray's brilliant podcast with Lucy Parsons.
That whilst I was wishing the women in my network would be more confident and forthright, I have been suffering
I have been putting off a big project I have had at the back of my mind for a while. One my experience as a Social Media Manager, Trainer and Learning Designer is telling me will be of useful to entrepreneurs, small business owners and other Social Media Manager.
When I starting thinking about all have done in the last 2 years and all I have achieved. I realized that it would be a waste not to capture it and share it. What's the worst that can happen?
So I am going to finally take my own advice, push through my reluctance to talk about my achievements and go for it. I will tell you more very soon.
I'd love to know what projects you are putting on the back burner. What would you do if you had faith in your yourself?
